Canada's Natural Resources Minister to visit India

Oliver will visit Delhi and Mumbai from October 8 to 12 and will meet government officials and industry leaders to advance investment, innovation and partnership opportunities with India in the natural resources sector.

"Canada enjoys a strong trade relationship with India. It is well positioned to fulfil India's rapidly increasing need for energy, minerals, metals and wood products," Oliver said in a statement.

"We are demonstrating our commitment to strengthening relationships that achieve tremendous progress in trade, investment and scientific innovation," he added.

During his visit, the Canadian minister will deliver a speech at the FICCI on October 8, highlighting Canada's interest in deepening bilateral relations and commercial opportunities in the natural resources sector in India.

 

On October 9, Oliver will deliver a keynote address at the International Seminar on Energy Access in New Delhi.

In Mumbai, he will deliver a speech at the CII on October 10, on Canada and India as partners in the modern world.

"Ties between India and Canada are steeped in history and rooted in friendship, and to these bonds we are adding growing connections of cooperation in the natural resources sector," Oliver said.

During the visit, Oliver is expected to reinforce Canada's role as a responsible energy supplier, advance his country's opportunities to diversify natural resource exports to India, and underscore its readiness to partner with India to help address its energy demands.
