A BJP delegation led by former

chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon on Tuesday and requested him to cancel appointments being made to constitutional posts by the "minority" Congress government.

Late Monday evening, the Kamal Nath government issued orders appointing MP Gopal Reddy as state chief secretary, replacing SR Mohanty, while heads were also appointed for constitutional bodies like MP Women's Commission, State Backward Classes Commission, the state's Youth Commission and the state Public Service Commission.

"The Congress government of Kamal Nath is in minority but it is appointing its workers to constitutional posts. A minority government has no power to do this," Chouhan told reporters after meeting the governor.

The delegation, which included Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava and MP BJP unit chief VD Sharma, asked Tandon to cancel these appointments.

BJP leaders told reporters that the governor was not aware of these appointments.
