The Samastipur District Magistrate (DM) Kundan Kumar has written to the state government recommending cancellation of licences of the eight private hospitals and nursing homes after it was established during enquiry that the uteruses of some women were removed at their medical facilities, the sources said.
It has been confirmed during preliminary inquiry that 23 women patients admitted for treatment to various ailments at these private hospitals and nursing homes had their uteruses removed by the doctors to reap Rs. 30,000 insurance for each of them, they said.
Investigations were going on against eight other private hospitals and nursing homes for their alleged role in uterus removal scandal in Samastipur district, the sources said adding that necessary action will be taken against them on the basis of the report.
