Cancer patient steals medical instruments from hospital

Forget about paying his medical bills, a cancer patient allegedly stole medical instruments worth Rs 1.30 lakh from a hospital here, police said today.

Accused Abdul Salaam, a resident of Bulandshahr, was being treated for prostrate cancer at Johar hospital. He was operated on October 28 following which he was to be discharged from the hospital today after paying Rs 90,000 for his treatment.

The incident occurred yesterday when his son Naeem on the pretext of getting money from a bank went outside and didn't return. Meanwhile, Salaam also disappeared from the hospital following which the hospital authorities registered a complaint against Salaam, they said.
 

Hospital Manager Iqbal also informed that medical instruments for measuring pulse rate, ECG and BP worth Rs 1.30 lakh have been allegedly stolen by Salaam.

A case has been registered against Salaam, who is absconding.
