Cancer treatment at govt hosps in Bhopal, Gwalior: minister

Cancer treatment facilities will be provided in government hospitals at Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa and Sagar in view of rising number of patients in these cities, Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Anoop Mishra said today.

Mishra stated this in the state Assembly while replying to a query from Arif Aqueel (Congress) during question hour.

Aqueel demanded that like Jabalpur and Indore, facilities to treat cancer should also be provided in Bhopal in view of the rising number of patients.

The Minister said that in Indore and Jabalpur, there are separate hospitals for cancer patients, while in Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa and Sagar there are separate units for the treatment of the ailment.
 

At present, 21 types of medicines for treatment of cancer are being provided and soon 57 different medicines will be provided to the patients in all these places as the tendering process for the same is over.

Besides, in all these four places Gama camera and MRI machines too are in the process of installation.
