The CBSE has said that candidates appearing for the AIPMT exam can wear religious or customary dresses including 'burqas' but has asked them to reach examination centres well in time for proper frisking.
In a notification issued by it, the Board suggested a dress code asking candidates to wear light clothes, half sleeves without big buttons, brooches, etc and also sandals or slippers instead of shoes.
It, however, added that candidates wearing their customary or religious dresses should report to their centres by 8.30 am "for proper frisking."
The CBSE was considering allowing students appearing for the central medical examinations to wear burqas and head scarves as a lot of organisations had been favouring it.
The ban on long sleeves and veils was introduced last year - and upheld by the Supreme Court - after the All-India Pre-Medical Test test was cancelled and re-conducted amid reports of cheating with the use of electronic devices and microphones stitched to candidates' clothes.
