Eighty one candidates of various political parties have registered their names for the Constituent Assembly by-elections scheduled to be held in Nepal on June 22.

The Election Commission of Nepal has published the calendar for conducting elections in Kathmandu-2, Chitwan-4, Bardiya-1 and Kailali-6, constituencies which were vacated by Parliament Members representing the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML after their double victory in November 19 elections.

Altogether 81 candidates filed the nomination papers for the four constituencies, Bir Bahadur Rai, spokesperson of the Election Commission said.

The EC will publish the final list of candidates on May 31 and the election symbols will be distributed on June 1.

Meanwhile, the top three political parties have already finalised their candidates for the by-elections.

The Commission has informed that it will use electric voting machines in the by-polls.

The voters are getting a right to cast 'none of the above' (NOTA) vote, for the first time in Nepal's election history.
