A storekeeper with the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department was today suspended over charges of irregularities in distributing ration.

"CAPD Minister Zulfkar Ali suspended the storekeeper of a CAPD store in Bishnah area for not distributing ration available in sufficient quantity in the store and ordered an enquiry into the matter," an official spokesman said.

The Minister has asked Assistant Director, CAPD to submit a detailed enquiry report within 24 hours.

He has also asked him seize the records of the store and shut it down till the enquiry is completed.

The Minister issued these instructions during a surprise visit to several CAPD outlets in Jammu in order to check the stock position and quality of food grains available.

During inspection of CAPD outlet in Chatha, he noted that ration in the store was inadequate compared to the quantity recorded in the stock registers.

Ali issued strict instructions to Deputy Director, CAPD to initiate enquiry in this regard and submit a report at the earliest.
