Capital waterlogged as showers lash Delhi

Heavy showers started in the evening slowing down traffic on major stretches near ITO, South Extension and Vikas Marg among others.

Water-logging was reported from several areas including Laxmi Nagar, Parliament Street and ITO. There were similar reports from Lajpat Rai Market, Defence Colony flyover, Moolchand flyover and in Ring Road.

The capital received an average of 0.4 mm of rains for the past nine hours ending 5:30 PM, the MeT office said, adding that showers occurred in the later part of the evening.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.4 deg C, one degree above normal, while the maximum was recorded at 36.2 deg C, one degree above normal.

 

The humidity oscillated between 58 and 92 per cent.

The capital has been receiving monsoon rains for the past four days.

Monsoon hit the capital on Friday evening, after missing the normal onset date of June 29. Last year, monsoon reached the city on June 26.
