"Captain Fantastic" actor Charlie Shotwell has been roped in to play the title role in the physiological horror drama "Eli".

The Ciaran Foy-directed movie narrates the story of a secluded clinic where a boy (Shotwell) with a rare disease is being treated.

As the story moves forward, one finds that the clinic has turned into a haunted prison - with no way out.

The film's script has been lifted from the 2015 Black List, penned by David Chirchirillo and revised by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing.

Trevor Macy is producing via his banner, Intrepid Pictures, along with Bellevue Productions' John Zaozirny.

Last week, it was announced "Eli" is slated for a January 4, 2019 release.
