"Captain Marvel" is going to focus on the superheroine's origin story, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed.
He briefly touched the subject of Carol Danvers when gushing about "Doctor Strange" actor Benedict Cumberbatch, reported Ace Showbiz.
"I think Benedict is one of those ways. Benedict is an amazing actor and totally different than Hemsworth and totally different from (Robert) Downey (Jr).

"And, we want to stay true to who he was in the books. The metamorphosis of what he goes through is more drastic than Tony Stark and that was fun to chart. I guess Black Panther isn't really an origin story since we saw him already in Civil War, but his stand alone certainly introduces you to 99 per cent of his world which you never saw before. And Captain Marvel is certainly an origin story from the start," he said.
The highly-anticipated female-centric movie is led by Brie Larson. It's planned for a March 8, 2019 release in the States.
Screenwriter Nicole Perlman previously revealed that it wouldn't be a straight adaptation of the comic book.
They would not stick to the comics when dealing with the story of how Carol Danvers acquired her superpowers. The change was made to avoid similarities to DC's Green Lantern.
