Captain Pisharody to take over command of INS Rajali

In a change of guard at INS Rajali at Arakkonam near here, Captain Vinod Kumar Pisharody will take over the reins of the premier naval air station of the Eastern Naval Command on Monday.

Commodore Puneet Kumar Bahl will be handing over the reins of Indian Navy Ship (INS) Rajali to Captain Pisharody on January 26, a Defence release here said.

Pisharody was serving as Captain (Air) at INS Rajali since May 2011 and the change of command ceremony will be held at the naval air station after the 66th Republic day parade, it said.

He will be inspecting the ceremonial guard and reviewing the platoons of naval personnel drawn from various squadrons/units of the air station, the release said.
 

Pisharody was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1989 and is an experienced pilot who was also a Qualified Flying Instructor.

INS Rajali undertakes diversified naval air operations and Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance (LRMR) aircraft like TU142 and P8I are based here, the release said.

Bahl has been promoted as Rear Admiral and will be moving to Delhi, it added.
