Leaders of India Inc in the financial capital, including Ambani brothers, Adi Godrej, A M Naik, N Chandrasekaran and Chanda Kochhar cast their votes today, expressing hopes for a stable and decisive government.
Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan voted at a booth near his official residence off Peddar Road in south Mumbai.
"It is the duty of everybody to vote. I appeal to all those who can vote, to please come out and vote," he said.
The voting percentage across the Maximum City's six constituencies was hovering around 35 per cent at 1500 hrs.
HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh, however, could not cast his vote as his name was missing from the list of voters at the booth where he had voted in the past.
Accompanied by his wife Neeta, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani cast his vote in south Mumbai. "Our vote is what binds all Indians together and today we are very happy to be a part of the 1.2 billion Indians... A vote equalises and unites all of us to build a stronger India," he said.
"We want a stable government, we want a strong government and we do want a government to take fast actions... transparent and clear decision-making is very necessary," State Bank of India Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya said after casting her vote at a booth in Malabar Hill area.
"We want economic development and a very strong government so that we once again get all the respect in the world," Larsen & Toubro Chairman A M Naik told the waiting reporters after casting his vote.
"I wish for a stable and decisive government that can bring back growth to our country," ICICI Bank CEO and Managing Director Chanda Kochhar said after casting her vote.
Ajit Gulabchand, Chairman of HCC, said that the economy had "nose-dived" and we were "shamed in front of the world" and hence, a stable government was needed.
Reliance Group Chairman & CEO Anil Ambani, dressed in a formal white shirt and dark trousers, cast his vote early in the morning at a booth in Cuffe Parade area.
