Unidentified car-borne youth allegedly hit a motorcycle of the cops and escaped with a carbine of a policeman doing PCR duty on Ludhiana-Ferozepur road here, police said today.

Two policemen, Sukhbir Singh and Chet Singh, were on the PCR patrolling duty. A car came from Threekay village side and collided with their motor cycle last evening, police said.

There were some exchange of words between the two sides and later the car driver tried to run away, police said, adding some youths, including a woman, were travelling in the car.

They said that the PCR men signalled him to stop, but the driver sped away.

The cops chased the car. Chet Singh hit the car windowpane with the handle of his carbine, which fell into the car. The youth didn't stop the car and sped off, police said.

Commissioner of Police, R N Dhoke, said that investigations are in progress and a case has been registered against the car driver.
