A car was allegedly set on fire by unknown persons in the Kotli village near Sirsa today, an incident that occured after Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to twenty years imprisonment in two rape cases, the police said.
A luxury car, was torched by some unknown persons near the Kotli village which is 10 Km from Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters, a police official said.
Another police officer said they were investigating whether the car was torched by Dera followers or other persons, adding that a detailed investigation was underway.
"As per preliminary investigation, three boys were seen sitting inside the care whose horn was blaring. Smoke was seen coming from the vehicle by eyewitnesses. The trio later left the vehicle and escaped in another car," he said.
IG (Hisar Range) A S Dhillon said that the three persons were sitting inside the car and they fled the spot after fire in the vehicle.
However, he said that there has been no report of violence by Dera followers in the district today.
