Car falls into river, two of family washed away

Two children of a family were washed away when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell in the Chenab river in Ramban district today.

Four members of a family were going to Baramulla district from Jammu in a car when it skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and rolled down into the river at Mihar area of Ramban, police said.

Karan Singh and his wife Satwant Kour were thrown out of the vehicle and were rescued from the banks of the river by the police.

However, their 20-year-old son Hardev Singh and 22-year-old daughter Hardeep Kaur were washed away in strong current of the river along with the car, they said.
 

Police with the help of locals have launched a rescue operation.
