An unidentified car ploughed into two women pedestrians leaving them injured on an almost deserted road near the Max hospital in the Tallaiya area here today.

A video of the incident went viral on social media showing the car suddenly taking a sharp turn hitting the two women at a high speed and fleeing the spot.

An unidentified car coming from opposite direction rammed into Radha Bai (27) and Krishna Bai (35), both sanitation workers at the Max hospital, when they were walking down to their work place this morning, investigating officer Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mithilesh Tripathi said.

He said the duo was rushed to government-run Hamadia Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger.

Tripathi said the car driver in order to save a woman, who had come in the midst of the road, lost control over his vehicle and hit the two other women walking on the roadside.

After injuring the women, who come to work at the hospital from neighbouring Vidisha district daily, the accused reversed the car and fled the spot.

Police denied that the driver intentionally rammed the car into the women.

Minutes after the incident, a video showing the accident went viral in which an angry man is seen hurling a stone at the driver of the fleeing car to stop him.

"Efforts are on to nab the driver," Tripathi said.

"Right now, police are not having the registration number of the car," the ASI added.
