A 26-year-old man died and three other were injured after being hit by a car on a flyover on the Western Express Highway in the city today, police said.

The car then crashed 20 feet below, however its passengers, apparently not seriously injured, fled from the spot leaving it behind.

The incident took place at around 3.30 pm.

Driver of the car, which was heading for Kherwadi, lost control and it hit four workers who were doing a welding job by the side of the flyover, said a senior police officer.

One of the workers, Sandeep Daudke, died on the spot, while others sustained injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital. Their condition was said to be stable.

The car then fell down 20 feet. "Eye-witnesses said its passengers survived the crash and fled from the spot, leaving the mangled car behind. We are finding out if they were injured and got treated at any hospital," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Paramjeet Singh Dahiya.
