A carcass of a female elephant was found inside Champagarh forest limits inside the Similipal Sanctuary here today, officials today said.
The elephant is presumed to have died following a fierce fight with a tusker three days ago, said Karanjia DFO Prasanna Kumar Behera.
The deceased jumbo could be about 40-years-old and it's body carried deep scar marks of the tusker, which might have led to the death of the elephant, he added.

The carcass was buried inside the forest after an autopsy by a veterinarian DFO, Behera said.
At least seven elephants including this incident, have died during the last one month inside the Similipal sanctuary, officials said.
