The carcass of the two-year-old leopard was found last evening near Someshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Western Ghats in Udupi district, Divisional Forest Officer Ganesh Rai told PTI from Kundapur.

Rai said the leopard died of injuries at the site, about 430 kms from here.

"Getting food in rainy season is a big task for leopards," he said, adding that the carcass has been cremated.

The leopard was last seen on July 15 near a hotel in Someshwar and was then let into a nearby forest, Rai said.
