Local fishermen informed the forest department when they spotted the carcass on the bank of the Roymangal river in Basirhat range, officials said.
"After carrying out a post-mortem, it was found that the tiger cub drowned in the river after the water level suddenly rose following high tide," Dr Utpalendu Mondal veterinary surgeon of Sundarbans Tiger Project said.
