The team found carcasses of two blackbucks, one Chital (spotted) deer and two other animals last evening.
Confirming this, two members of the team -- social forestry department SDO Dinesh Misra and regional forest officer Dinesh Singh -- said the excavation work would continue for now as they expect that carcasses of more animals could be buried here.
The team, formed by Principal Secretary Forest B N Garg during his visit to the zoo two days ago, excavated the carcass of a Chital from outside the residence of the director and the carcasses two blackbucks and two other animals from near the enclosure of the blackbucks.
Three days ago also, the carcasses of two Chitals were excavated.
The zoo authorities reportedly have no record of when and how the animals died or who buried their carcasses.
Thirty-one endangered blackbucks, were found devoured by wild dogs in the city Zoo on January 20. According to their postmortem report, 18 of them had died due to shock, whereas 29 had teeth and claw marks on their bodies.
