Cardamom down 0.7% on profit-booking

Spice for delivery in March contracts traded lower by 0.46%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid profit-booking by speculators at existing levels and low demand in the spot market, cardamom prices were lower by 0.74% at Rs 1,140.50 per kg in futures trade today.

Besides, adequate stocks position in the physical market on increased supplies from producing belts put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in far-month April fell by Rs 8.50, or 0.74% to Rs 1140.50 per kg in business turnover of 18 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in March contracts traded lower by Rs 5.10, or 0.46% to Rs 1,114.70 per kg in 178 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators at prevailing levels, weak demand in spot market, mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
