Cardamom prices drifted 0.71 per cent to Rs 806 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks in the physical market on account of higher supply from the producing belts also weighed on the cardamom futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September fell Rs 5.80, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 806 per kg in a business turnover of 168 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 5.50, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 810 per kg in 8 lots.

Marketmen said apart from profit-booking by speculators, sluggish demand in the spot market mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
