Cardamom drops 0.98% on profit-booking; low demand

Higher supplies from producing belts fuel downtrend

Cardamom drops 0.98% on profit-booking; low demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices drifted 0.98 per cent to Rs 781.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks in the physical market following higher supplies from the producing belts also influenced the cardamom futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October fell Rs 7.80, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 781.10 per kg in a business turnover of 42 lots.

The November contract traded lower by Rs 1.90, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 815.50 per kg in 93 lots.

Marketmen said apart from profit-booking by speculators, slackened demand in the spot market, mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
