Cardamom prices surged 2.13 per cent to Rs 1,088 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions, taking positive cues from the spot market on surge in domestic and exports demand.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September shot up Rs 22.70, or 2.13 per cent, to Rs 1,088 per kg in a business turnover of one lot.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in August contracts traded higher by Rs 13.10, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 1,157.30 per kg in 9 lots.
The widening of positions by participants, tracking a firm trend at the spot market on rising domestic and export demand, against tight stock position due to fall in supplies from producing belts supported cardamom prices.
