Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices shot up by 2.92 per cent to Rs 1,110 per kg in futures trading today as participants enlarged positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising domestic and exports demand.

Besides, tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August spurted by Rs 31.50, or 2.92 per cent, to Rs 1,110 per kg in a business turnover of 35 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in September shot up by Rs 16.40, or 1.64 per cent, to Rs 1,015 per kg in 3 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants following strong domestic as well as exports demand in the physical market against tight stocks position on restricted arrivals from producing belts, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
