Cardamom prices drifted 0.21 per cent to Rs 771.50 per kg in futures trading today as traders locked-in gains at prevailing higher levels amid easing demand at the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May fell Rs 1.60, or 0.21 per cent to Rs 771.50 per kg in a business turnover of 172 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April weakened by 80 paise, or 0.10 per cent to Rs 800 per kg in 21 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-taking by participants at existing level, fall in demand in spot market against adequate stocks position mainly led to the decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
