Cardamom futures weakened by 0.56 per cent to Rs 888 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced holdings amidst sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 5, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 888 per kg in a business turnover of 41 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July declined by Rs 3.50, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 909.90 per kg in 288 lots.

Analysts said the fall in cardamom prices in futures trade was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators amid sluggish demand in the spot market.
