Cardamom futures prices fell by 2.07 per cent to Rs 969 per kg today after speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels.

Moreover, adequate stock positions following increased arrivals from producing regions too fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for June delivery declined by Rs 20.50, or 2.07 per cent, to Rs 969 per kg, with a business turnover of 30 lots.

The spice for delivery in July fell by Rs 8.80, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 890 per kg, with a trading volume of just two lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators at existing prices, increased arrivals from producing regions, mainly put pressure on cardamom prices in the futures market.
