Cardamom prices fell 2.55 per cent to Rs 1,010 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid low demand against higher supplies in spot market from producing belts.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June contract fell by Rs 26.50, or 2.55 per cent, to Rs 1,010 per kg in business turnover of 39 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May contract edged down by Rs 13.20, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 1,208 per kg in 155 lots.
Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators amid higher supplies from producing regions and sluggish demand in the spot market mainly pulled down cardamom prices in futures trade.
