Cardamom down 2.7% on low demand, higher supply

Cardamom prices fell 2.67% to Rs 688.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid low demand against higher supplies in spot market from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April fell by Rs 18.90, or 2.67% to Rs 688.10 per kg in business turnover of 788 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May edged down by Rs 16.80, or 2.31% to Rs 710 per kg in 372 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators amid higher supplies from producing regions and sluggish demand in the spot market mainly pulled down cardamom prices in futures trade.
