Cardamom prices fell by 2.74 per cent to Rs 1,008 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand at the spot market.

Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December declined by Rs 28.40, or 2.74 per cent to Rs 1,008 per kg in a business turnover of 81 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January next year traded lower by Rs 25.20, or 2.37 per cent to Rs 1,039 per kg in 15 lots.

Analysts said besides profit booking by participants at existing levels, fall in demand in the physical market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions, mainly weighed on cardamom prices at futures trade.
