Cardamom prices fell 2.81 per cent to Rs 1,009 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid low demand.

Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions weighed on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December fell by Rs 29.20, or 2.81 per cent, to Rs 1,009 per kg, in a business turnover of 36 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January edged down by Rs 21.80, or 2.03 per cent, to Rs 1,050 per kg, with a trading volume of 7 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid higher supplies from producing regions and sluggish demand in the spot market mainly pulled down cardamom prices in futures trade.
