Cardamom climbs by 1.5% on rising demand

Speculators enlarged positions supported by rising demand in the spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices spurted by 1.52% to Rs 939.90 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions supported by rising demand in the spot market.

Further, tight stocks position in the physical market on restricted arrivals from producing region further fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September shot up Rs 14.10, or 1.52% to Rs 939.90 per kg in business turnover of 692 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in October shot up by Rs 12.20, or 1.32% to Rs 933 per kg in 254 lots.

Market analysts said besides rising demand in the spot market, restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
