In futures trading, cardamom prices surged further by 3 per cent to Rs 1,385.40 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions, taking positive cues from spot market on rising domestic as well as exports demand.

Besides, tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January month shot up by Rs 40.30, or 3.00 per cent to Rs 1385.40 per kg in business turnover of 75 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in February contracts traded higher by Rs 41.10, or 2.99 per cent to Rs 1,417 per kg in 30 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by participants on the back of rising domestic as well as exports demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
