Cardamom prices fell 0.56 per cent to Rs 1,157 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand in the spot markets.

Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions weighed on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April contract fell by Rs 6.50, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 1,157 per kg in a business turnover of 8 lots.

Similarly, the contract for current month delivery was trading at Rs 1,160, dipped by 0.41 per cent, or Rs 4.80 from its previous closing of Rs 1,164.80. The open interest of the contract stood at 5 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators at existing levels, increased arrivals from producing regions mainly put pressure on cardamom futures.
