Cardamom down 1% on sluggish demand

Spice for delivery in February contracts traded lower by 0.36%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices were lower by 1.06% to Rs 1,097.10 per kg in futures trade today, as traders reduced their holdings, triggered by subdued demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the commodity for March month fell by Rs 11.70, or 1.06% to Rs 1,097.10 per kg in business turnover of 264 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February contracts traded lower by Rs 3.60, or 0.36% to Rs 990 per kg in 391 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders owing to sluggish demand in the spot market mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
