Cardamom down 1.7% on profit-booking

Spice for delivery in April fell by 1.44%,

Cardamom futures fell by 1.68% to Rs 1,008 per kg today as traders reduced holdings amid sluggish spot demand.

Sufficient stocks in physical market also weighed on its prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for March contract eased by Rs 17.30, or 1.68%, to Rs 1,008 per kg with a business turnover of 229 lots.

The spice for delivery in April fell by Rs 15.20, or 1.44%, to Rs 1,035.60 per kg with a trading volume of 248 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand in spot market put pressure on cardamom prices in futures market.
