Amid profit booking by speculators and subdued spot demand, cardamom prices were down by 2.08 per cent to Rs 907 per kg in futures trade today.

Furthermore, adequate stocks position on increased arrivals from producing regions in the physical market against muted demand, too fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in the current month fell Rs 19.30, or 2.08 per cent, to Rs 907 per kg, in a business turnover of 195 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 13.30, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 911.40 per kg in 14 lots.

Marketmen said apart from profit-booking by speculators, sluggish demand in the spot markets, mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
