Cardamom prices drifted by Rs 6.70 to Rs 811 per kg in futures trade today as traders reduced their holdings amid sluggish spot demand.

Besides, sufficient stocks in the physical market also influenced the cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June declined by Rs 6.70, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 811 per kg in a business turnover of 188 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in July traded lower by Rs 6.60, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 792 per kg with trading volume of 12 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders amid a weak spot market trend on subdued demand mainly led to a fall in cardamom futures.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market also influenced trading in cardamom prices, they said.
