Cardamom prices fell by Rs 16.40 to Rs 742.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded holdings due to the adequate stocks in the physical market following higher supply from the producing belts.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March eased by Rs 16.40, or 2.16 per cent, to Rs 742.20 per kg in a business turnover of 1,013 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 4, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 806.90 per kg with a trading volume of 526 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders amid a weak trend in spot market on subdued demand mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices in futures market.
