Continuing its gaining streak for the fifth straight day, cardamom prices rose by 0.62 per cent to Rs 1,294.20 per kg in futures trade today as participants engaged in widening their bets, driven by strong demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December rose by Rs 8, or 0.62 per cent to Rs 1,294.20 per kg in a business turnover of 41 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 4, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 1,264.40 per kg in 122 lots.

Market analysts said increasing positions by traders on the back of strong domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
