Cardamom up 0.7% on spot demand

Commodity for delivery in May edged up by 0.55%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices gained 0.73% to trade at Rs 983.40 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm trend at spot market on strong demand.

Besides, restricted supplies in the physical markets from major producing belts supported the uptrend in cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April increased by Rs 7.20, or 0.73%, to Rs 983.40 per kg in a business turnover of 217 lots.

Similarly, cardamom for delivery in May edged up by Rs 5.20, or 0.55%, to Rs 943.60 per kg in 19 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade to a firming trend at spot markets on strong demand amidst tight supplies from producing regions.
