Cardamom gains by 0.8% on rising demand

Speculators enlarged positions amid rising demand in the spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices gained 0.80% to Rs 1,034 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions amid rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April gained Rs 8.30, or 0.80%, to Rs 1,034 per kg in a business turnover of 21 lots.

However, the spice for delivery in March shed Rs 1.70, or 0.15%, to Rs 1,070 per kg in 181 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of rise in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
