Cardamom prices rose 1.59 per cent to Rs 1,159.70 per kg in futures trade today as participants raised bets, taking positive cues from spot market on surge in domestic and exports demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August shot up by Rs 18.10, or 1.59 per cent, to Rs 1,159.70 per kg in a business turnover of 5 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 4.80, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 1,067 per kg in 2 lots.

Analysts said expanding of positions by participants on the back of firm trend at spot market on rising domestic as well as exports demand against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
