Cardamom prices rose 1.68 per cent to Rs 971 per kg in futures trading today after participants created positions amid pick-up in demand in spot market.

Also, restricted arrivals from producing areas helped the the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 16.10, or 1.68 per cent, to Rs 971 per kg, in a business turnover of 427 lots.

Similarly, cardamom for delivery in May edged up by Rs 12.70, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 935.90 per kg in 42 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of rise in demand in spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions helped cardamom prices to rise.
