Cardamom futures marginally up on rising demand

Cardamom prices rose by 0.25 per cent to Rs 1,044.60 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.25 per cent to Rs 1,044.60 per kg in business turnover of 3 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in May contracts was edged up by Rs 1.60, or 0.13 per cent to Rs 1,215.40 per kg in 3 lots.

Traders said widening of positions by participants on the back of surging demand in the the spot market against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions, mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
