Cardamom prices rose by 3.90 per cent to Rs 887 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions amid rising domestic and export demand.

Also, restricted arrivals in the spot markets from producing belts further fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September went up by Rs 33.30, or 3.90 per cent, to Rs 887 per kg in a business turnover of 213 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October gained Rs 11.50, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 869 per kg in 211 lots.

Market analysts said besides rising domestic as well as export demand, restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
