Cardamom remained firm and prices advanced by 0.64 per cent to Rs 1,191.40 per kg in futures trading today as participants engaged in enlarging their positions on the back of rising domestic as well as export demand at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September went up by Rs 7.60, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 1,191.40 per kg, in a business turnover of 17 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in October edged up by Rs 4.40, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 1,159.50 per kg in 10 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants, driven by surging domestic as well as exports demand in the physical market against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions, kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
